Freestanding Focus: Master Bathroom Remodel | Philadelphia
The Project Story
The clients wanted a full remodel of their master bathroom to achieve a modern, luxurious, and functional space. Their goals included replacing all plumbing fixtures, installing a new vanity, updating flooring and lighting, and transforming the bathtub area. They wanted to remove the existing drop-in tub and replace it with a freestanding tub positioned centrally beneath the windows, creating a striking focal point. This remodel aimed to combine elegance, comfort, and modern design while making the bathroom feel open and inviting.
Key Features:
This master bathroom remodel in Philadelphia, PA, completely transformed the space into a modern, luxurious, and functional retreat. The clients wanted all-new plumbing fixtures, a larger vanity, updated flooring and lighting, and a freestanding tub positioned beneath the windows as a striking focal point. The remodel features dark blue cabinetry, brass accents, geometric tile flooring, and a sleek, contemporary aesthetic.
The goal of this high-end bathroom renovation was to create a stylish and open space while addressing the clients’ functional needs. The centerpiece of the design is a dark blue vanity with simple slab doors and brass hardware, providing generous storage and ample counter space. The flooring features ceramic square tiles arranged in a geometric pattern, extending seamlessly into the shower to create visual continuity. On the shower walls, cream-colored elongated subway tiles brighten the room, and a recessed niche with circular blue mosaic tiles serves as both a functional storage solution and an elegant accent.
To enhance storage without crowding the space, floating shelving was installed above the toilet, while a recessed shower niche provides room for toiletries. A dark wood shelf installed above the freestanding tub draws the eye to this centerpiece, perfectly aligning with the tub below to create a balanced, luxurious focal point. Every material and finish was chosen for its modern aesthetic, durability, and easy maintenance, resulting in a cohesive, clean, and inviting bathroom design.
The main challenge was converting the existing space to highlight a freestanding tub while maintaining functionality and flow. By relocating the tub to the center under the windows and integrating recessed storage solutions, we created a sense of openness and balance. Geometric floor tiles and contrasting accent colors unify the space and add visual interest, while maintaining a modern and elegant style.
The completed remodel transformed the master bathroom into a bright, functional, and luxurious retreat. The freestanding tub serves as the dramatic focal point, while the thoughtful combination of cabinetry, tile, and shelving ensures both style and practicality. The space now feels open, inviting, and perfectly tailored to the clients’ vision.
Key Features:
- Design Elements: The remodeled master bathroom features a striking dark blue vanity that provides ample storage and expanded counter space. The vanity is designed with simple slab doors and accented with brass hardware, offering a clean, modern aesthetic. The flooring consists of ceramic square tiles arranged in a geometric pattern, adding visual interest and a contemporary touch. These same tiles continue into the shower, creating a cohesive flow throughout the space. On the shower walls, cream-colored elongated subway tiles enhance the bright, open feel, while a recessed niche adds both function and style. - Functional Improvements: Shelving was added above the toilet to provide extra storage while also offering a stylish spot to display décor. In the shower, a recessed niche was incorporated to store toiletries efficiently without taking up additional space.
- Special Features: To highlight the bathtub as the room’s focal point, a dark wood shelf was installed above the freestanding tub, perfectly centered on the wall and in alignment with the tub below.
